A cornucopia of topics drove website traffic this past week, as cyberguests visited MPO’s website to learn more about a molding merger, the FDA’s approval of a continuous glucose monitoring system, the first surgeries using Abbott’s Aveir DR Dual-Chamber pacemaker, and a reflective look back at digital breast tomosythesis.

Comar’s Feb. 8 purchase of injection-molding contract manufacturer Automatic Plastics Ltd. (APL) garnered the most page views. Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing Scott Conklin shared details of the deal with Editor-in-Chief Sean Fenske, telling him in an exclusive interview that APL’s assets and capabilities extends the reach of Comar’s medical and pharmaceutical injection molding and automation capabilities into Europe, the second-largest healthcare market after the United States. The combined company will boast 11 manufacturing facilities and more than 1,200 employees worldwide.

Following closely behind the Comar-APL merger in page views was the FDA approval of Senseonics’ six month wear duration Eversense E3 continuous glucose monitoring system, which will be available to U.S. patients through Ascensia Diabetes Care in the second quarter this year. Rounding out the top three most-read items was news of the world’s first dual-chamber leadless pacemaker implants with Abbott’s Aveir system in Prague, Czech Republic. The procedures are part of the company’s AVEIR DR i2i pivotal clinical study, evaluating the Aaveir dual-chamber leadless pacemaker.

Also drawing vistors to the site was a magazine column reflecting upon a decade of digital breast tomosynthesis technology (Hologic’s Selenia Dimensions Mammography System was approved by the FDA in 2011), and a video explaining the latest protocol changes for accelerated aging of sterile barrier systems and medical devices.
