It was close, but this week’s prime pageview performer was a bit of a surprise.

A Q&A on vaporized hydrogen peroxide beat out the debut of this year’s Top 30 Medical Device Companies Report for top traffic billing on MPO’s website.

The Q&A with Nelson Labs (A Sotera Health company) representatives provided details about vaporized hydrogen peroxide (VH2O2) as a potential sterilization modality for medtech manufacturers. VH2O2 has existed for quite some time but it was traditionally considered a less established method for sterilization. As a result, many manufacturers shied away from using it, thinking the regulatory pathway may be more scrutinized.

Chasing the Top Companies Report was the only news item to make it into the Final Five: Tandem and Dexcom’s Canadian debut of the updated t:slim X2 insulin pump software, which is compatible with Dexcom G7 and Dexcom G6 Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) Systems. The updated t:slim X2 comes with Control-IQ technology using Dexcom CGM data to predict glucose levels 30 minutes ahead and automatically adjust insulin, if needed, to help prevent highs and lows.

Rounding out this week’s starting lineup was an online exclusive about medical device counterfeiting and a magazine feature on human factors engineering.
