Moon Surgical, a company focused on physical artificial intelligence (AI) for the operating room, has made three new appointments to its executive leadership team.

This leadership team expansion follows the recent announcement on quickly broadening use of the company’s Maestro system, which has now been used in over 1,600 surgeries worldwide, including 1,400 in the past year. It’s been used across 60 different types of minimally invasive surgeries.

Joining Moon Surgical’s leadership team are:

  • Jonathan Conta, chief marketing officer, who brings over 16 years of experience at Intuitive Surgical. He led marketing and product functions as well as commercial initiatives across multiport and single-port platforms.
  • Jeff Semone, chief quality and regulatory officer, who previously led global quality and regulatory teams at Siemens Healthineers and Varian Medical Systems.
  • Jeff Driggs, VP of U.S. sales, who joined from Conmed, where he led sales for the AirSeal platform. He also held earlier leadership roles at Intuitive Surgical.

“These additions come at a pivotal moment for Moon Surgical, as we are wrapping up our Limited Market Release,” said Anne Osdoit, CEO of Moon Surgical and Partner at Sofinnova Partners. “Each of these leaders brings the experience and expertise to scale commercial success. Their contributions position us to meet growing demand for Maestro and support our next stage of global expansion.”

Jonathan Conta added, “Maestro represents an exciting evolution in minimally invasive surgery—instinctive, scalable, and powered by intelligent technology. I’m thrilled to help bring this platform to more surgical teams and patients around the world.”

Earlier this year, the company received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clearance for ScoPilot. This tool is enabled by NVIDIA Holoscan, a real-time sensing platform to develop and deploy applications based on artificial intelligence (AI) in the operating room, and running locally on Moon Surgical’s Maestro surgical robotics system.
