Microline Appoints New CFO

Darlene Deptula-Hicks has a strong background in medical device finance.

Microline Surgical Inc., a Beverly, Mass.-based manufacturer of reposable instruments for minimally invasive surgery, has named a new chief financial officer (CFO). Darlene Deptula-Hicks will oversee Microline’s financial operations and work closely with the company’s senior leadership team and board of directors to drive its growth in the global surgical market.

Deptula-Hicks joins Microline from iCAD Inc., a publicly traded medical device company, where she served as executive vice president of finance and CFO and treasurer. Deptula-Hicks previously held CFO positions at ONI Medical Systems Inc., a Wilmington, Mass.-based venture capital-backed designer and manufacturer of orthopedic diagnostic imaging systems, and Implant Services Corp., a publicly traded designer and manufacturer of radiation oncology, interventional oncology and orthopedic devices headquartered in Wakefield, Mass. She also has held various senior financial and accounting positions at Implant Sciences Corporation, Abiomed, Inc., GCA Corporation, Edwards High Vacuum International and Puritan Bennett Corporation.

Microline CEO and Chairman Jean-Luc Boulnois, Ph.D., said the company will be implementing “aggressive growth strategies,” and that Deptula-Hicks’ “deep experience and extensive business acumen” will help support that goal.

“Darlene Deptula-Hicks’ track record in managing the financial operations of both emerging and established medical device companies makes her an invaluable addition to our team,” said Microline President and Chief Operating Office Sharad Joshi. “Her industry knowledge will support Microline’s mission to deliver cost-effective, high-precision laparoscopic instrumentation to meet the growing global demand for minimally invasive procedures.”

Deptula-Hicks also serves on the board of directors and chairs the Audit Committee of USfalcon Inc., a privately held information technology and professional services company serving military, federal and commercial customers worldwide. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Southern New Hampshire University and an MBA from Rivier College in Nashua, N.H.
