Devicemakers would pay slightly more to process applications in the UK for clinical trials next year under a proposed fee schedule released by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA).

Beginning April 1, 2009, first-time fees for clinical trials of Class I, IIa or IIb devices — other than implantable or long-term invasive devices — would increase from about $4,755 to $4,786. Fees for renotification in the case of an objection or denial would rise to $3,362 from the current $3,230.
