Mesa Laboratories Inc. has purchased the bottle cap torque testing business of Vibrac LLC, a manufacturer of precision electromechanical test equipment based in New Hampshire. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Vibrac agreed to sell all its bottle cap torque testing products to Lakewood, Colo.-based Mesa Labs, including the Torqo I, Torqo II and Smart Bottle. Vibrac’s Torqo system, a computerized cap torque analyzer, is used in the beverage, pharmaceutical, food and cosmetics industries. The Amherst, N.H.-based company’s automated and manual testing systems are used for testing medical devices as well as small motors, bearings, fasteners, threaded container closures, and other products.

In a news release, Mesa Labs executives said the acquisition will complement the company’s existing line of DataTrace logging instruments, which are used in design, validation and quality control applications.

“We are excited to add this new line of bottle cap testing instruments to Mesa’s existing quality control products for our key industrial markets,” said John Sullivan, Mesa Labs president and CEO. “There are great growth opportunities for the Torqo and Smart Bottle products as we integrate them into our distribution channels and undertake further product development. Adding products like these to Mesa’s portfolio is a key part of our growth strategy, and we expect to do very well with this new line of instruments.”
