Medtronic began a partnership with Methinks AI, an artificial intelligence (AI)-driven radiological triage and notification system provider. The deal was struck to boost stroke treatment across Central and Eastern Europe, Africa, Türkiye and Middle East, supporting Medtronic’s Neurovascular business.

Methinks AI-powered solutions support clinicians with stroke assessment in order to help save critical time in patient management. The company’s tools have been validated in hospitals in Europe and the U.S., with the ability to spot over 80% of large vessel occlusions using only non-contrast CT imaging.

This ensures quicker assessment, even in settings that have limited access to advanced imaging technologies. Further, Methinks AI partnered with Microsoft to boost the technology’s scalability and accessibility.

Medtronic touts a suite of innovations in acute ischemic stroke treatment. The company has a portfolio of advanced stent retrievers and aspiration systems for clot retrieval. By integrating Methinks AI with Medtronic’s stroke treatment portfolio, the duo hopes to streamline connectivity between stroke centers and regional hospitals, allowing seamless patient triage and care coordination.

“At Medtronic, we are committed to providing innovative solutions that extend beyond traditional product offerings,” said Maria Zvereva, Medtronic’s Neurovascular strategic marketing leader in CEMA region. “This partnership reinforces our commitment to support healthcare professionals with advanced stroke care tools, ensuring faster and more effective treatment for patients across the region and transforming stroke care by combining breakthrough AI assessment with world-class medical device solutions.”

“We are honored to collaborate with Medtronic, a company that shares our commitment to increasing the number of stroke treatments available to those that urgently need them,” added said Pau Rodríguez, CEO of Methinks. “Together, we aim to bring our AI-driven solutions to more hospitals to benefit from early triage and efficient coordination.”

In February, Medtronic Neurovascular began a collaboration with Brainomix to boost stroke care for Western European patients by integrating AI solutions into clinical practices.
