Trust is at the heart of any meaningful relationship. Without it, a partnership is unlikely to survive.

Trust is difficult to measure, however, particularly in the business world. While it can shape choices, investor confidence, and worker loyalty, trust is not always accurately measured.

A PwC survey found that 90% of business executives think customers highly trust their companies while only 30% of consumers actually do trust the business. That gap of 60 percentage points is greater than the 57 points PwC measured in both 2023 and 2022.

Aiming to narrow this divide, Newsweek teamed up with market research firm Statista to spotlight America’s Most Trustworthy Companies of 2025. The ranking includes 700 companies in 23 industries ranging from aerospace and healthcare to retail and consumer goods, Editor-in-Chief Jennifer H. Cunningham wrote in her introduction to the list.

“In the corporate world, maintaining trust among customers, employees and investors is paramount for success in an increasingly competitive landscape,” the magazine wrote in explaining the ranking’s methodology. “This ranking aims to provide guidance and to highlight the companies that are most trusted in the United States. Trust can have several forms and be viewed from different perspectives. Recognizing this, Newsweek and Statista developed a methodology which considers several key aspects of trust. The Most Trustworthy Companies were selected based on a holistic approach to evaluating trust. The three primary pillars of trust were considered: customer trust, investor trust, and employee trust.”

A number of medtech, diagnostics and general healthcare firms made the “most trustworthy” list, including abbVie, BD (Becton, Dickinson & Company), Biogen, Bio-Rad, DaVita, Dexcom, Johnson & Johnson, Labcorp, and Quest Diagnostics. A total of 33 healthcare/life sciences companies were named to the list.

The analysis did not include companies involved in any recent scandals or lawsuits relevant to trust, according to Newsweek.
