New CEO Zane Burke brings 20 years of healthcare IT expertise; Dr. Jennifer Schneider promoted from chief medical officer to president.
December 19, 2018
By: PR Newswire
Livongo Health, the leading Applied Health Signals company that empowers people with chronic conditions to live better and healthier lives, announced that it has appointed industry veteran Zane Burke as CEO. Company Founder and current CEO, Glen Tullman, will transition to the role of Executive Chairman. Previously, Burke spent five years as president of Cerner Corp., a $5.1 billion healthcare IT company that has more than 28,000 associates and works with 27,500 providers in more than 35 countries. In his 22 years with the company, he held various senior executive roles in sales, strategy, finance, and operations. “Zane spent two decades building relationships with the top health systems in the world. He knows the healthcare challenges facing employers, providers, and those with chronic conditions,” said Tullman. “Livongo is growing rapidly with significant opportunities on the horizon. I believe Zane is the perfect person to take the company to the next level and to lead Livongo through this period of rapid expansion.” Livongo offers an entirely new kind of experience that makes it easier for people to stay healthy. The company offerings address pre-diabetes, diabetes, high blood pressure, weight management, and medication optimization. Livongo enables people to make important health changes by aggregating and interpreting data, and by delivering health signals in the way most useful to the person managing their condition. “With six in ten people living with a chronic condition, the time is right for Livongo’s experiential, fresh approach to improving the quality of life and the health status of people who live with these conditions,” said Burke. “As CEO, my focus will be working with this incredible team to grow the company so that we can create better health and care experiences for our Members, and more appropriately manage the resources consumed in managing those conditions for anyone paying for that care.” The company also announced Dr. Jennifer Schneider’s promotion to president. Schneider will broaden her responsibilities at the company and assume the role of President, with responsibility for Product, Data Science, Software Engineering, Marketing, and Clinical Operations. Schneider previously served as the company’s chief medical officer. Zane Burke, newly appointed CEO of Livongo, commented, “The opportunity to partner with Jenny and the rest of the Livongo executive team to build on the success Livongo has enjoyed to date is something I’m very much looking forward to.” Schneider joined Livongo in 2015, having most recently served as Castlight’s chief medical officer. At the time, it was considered a coupe to land such a highly regarded industry leader for the company. Over the last three years, she has built the company’s clinical and data science operations, now considered industry-leading, and has helped to drive results that demonstrate a substantial and sustained reduction in A1c and financial ROI for clients. Over the last 12 months, her responsibilities have expanded in line with the company’s growth, particularly in the strategy realm as the company has moved beyond diabetes to focus on the health of the whole person. “I’m excited about the possibilities in front of us as the leader in Applied Health Signals,” said Schneider. “The marketplace is recognizing our differentiated offering, and we’re now serving more than 600 of the largest, most innovative self-insured employers in the U.S., the two largest pharmacy benefit managers and a growing number of payers and health services organizations. As we rapidly grow our business and build new capabilities, we are able to aggregate and interpret more data on more conditions, and deliver actionable, personalized and timely health signals to more and more people with chronic conditions empowering them to get and stay healthy.” Glen Tullman, Executive Chairman of Livongo, said, “On behalf of all of our team members and our executive leadership, I want to congratulate Jenny on a well-earned and deserved promotion, one which acknowledges the increasingly broad leadership role she has been playing in the business. I’m looking forward to working with Zane and Jenny and the entire leadership team to take the company to the next level, empowering our Members to live better and healthier lives.” Dr. Schneider previously held leadership roles in the provider setting as a health outcomes researcher and Chief Resident at Stanford University, and practiced medicine as an attending physician at Stanford University, the VA Palo Alto Health Care System, and Kaiser Permanente. Dr. Schneider has an undergraduate degree from the College of the Holy Cross, a Doctor of Medicine degree from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, and a Master of Science degree in Health Services Research from Stanford University. She completed her internal medicine residency at Stanford University Hospital.
