LeMaitre Vascular to Open Canadian Office

The company aims to expand selling and marketing capacity north of the U.S. border.

Burlington, Mass.-based LeMaitre Vascular, device maker for peripheral artery disease, has announced plans to expand into Canada by opening a Toronto office in December. Shipping to Canadian hospitals from the company’s new location will begin in the first quarter of fiscal year 2013. The company estimates that it will employ five Canadian sales representatives and a general manager over the next 18 months.

“Expanding our efforts in Canada is a natural move for LeMaitre Vascula,” said Rob Linden, senior vice president of sales in the Americas. “We have been shipping to Canadian hospitals from our Burlington, Mass. operations for a number of years, which has created a significant base of business on which to add additional sales resources. In addition, Canada has special appeal due to its solid economy, robust healthcare system, and proximity to our U.S. operations.”

LeMaitre makes implantable and disposable devices for use by vascular surgeons and interventionalists. Its new Toronto office will serve as the company’s Canadian headquarters.
