IR-MED has named Ran Ziskind as its new CEO, effective Sept 1, 2024. He succeeds interim CEO Ronnie Klein, who continues to serve as the company’s chief technology officer.

Ziskind was the co-founder and CEO of Galatea Ltd., a startup in diamond manufacturing, from 2004 to 2023. Under his leadership, Galatea developed a pioneering electro-optics tech that became the industry’s gold standard. The company was ultimately acquired by Sarin Technologies.

Prior to this, Ziskind was an engineer at Lithotech, where he contributed to development of medical technologies. He was also an engineer at Eurika Ltd., where he worked on various engineering projects.

“IR-MED’s platform technology is highly compelling for its potential to substantially improve healthcare outcomes through early, non-invasive detection of skin, tissue, and blood vessel related conditions. With the first product, PressureSafe, ready to launch and several other indications in the pipeline, IR-MED is well poised to rapidly capture market share and set new standards for detection and diagnosis. I’m very excited to lead the company into its growth trajectory,” said Ziskind.

More about IR-MED

The company is developing a non-invasive spectrographic analysis platform to detect, measure, and monitor (in real-time) different molecules in the blood, in human tissue, and in body fluids.

PressureSafe is the first product planned for launch. It’s a handheld optical monitoring device to support early detection of pressure injuries (PI) of the skin and underlying tissue. The device can work regardless of skin tone because it calibrates to each patient’s skin.

IR-MED’s tech aims to allow accurate biomarker readings in a non-invasive method. It may offer caregivers an optimal decision support system in cases where uncertainties can disturb physicians in their decision processes.

At present, PressureSafe is undergoing usability studies at multiple medical centers. Last week, IR-MED was awarded a $500,000 grant from the Israel Innovation Authority (IIA) to further develop its platform technology for early diabetic foot ulcer detection.
