Insulet announced that its Omnipod 5 app for iPhone is now compatible with the Dexcom G7 continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) system in the U.S.

This latest integration combines the benefits of tubeless automated insulin delivery (AID) and Dexcom’s latest diabetes management tech and makes it conveniently controllable from an iPhone. Dexcom earned FDA clearance for the G7 15-day CGM system earlier this year.

Insulet’s Omnipod 5 AID system adjusts insulin every five minutes. It autocorrects for high glucose and helps protect against lows, even while the user is asleep. The app for iPhone allows U.S. Omnipod 5 users to bolus, change a Pod, adjust settings, and access valuable insights.

“This integration represents a major milestone in our commitment to providing innovative solutions for diabetes management,” said Eric Benjamin, Insulet executive VP, chief product and customer experience officer. “With the addition of the Dexcom G7 sensor to the Omnipod 5 App for iPhone, our U.S. customers have more choice with fewer devices to keep track of, making it easier than ever to manage their diabetes.”

“The Omnipod 5 App for iPhone means less stress with better control! Plus, I feel like I lost a few pounds, since I don’t have to carry around a Controller anymore,” added Garrett Vogel, a nationally syndicated radio personality who has lived with type 1 diabetes for 30 years and has been using Omnipod 5 since 2023. Garrett was previously using Omnipod 5 with Dexcom G7 and the Controller. “I thought bolusing with the Controller was easy, but the Omnipod 5 App on my iPhone makes it even easier. I love it.”

In April, the company appointed former Johnson & Johnson MedTech executive VP and worldwide chairman Ashley McEvoy as its president and CEO.
