InspireMD Names New VP of Corporate Development

InspireMD Inc. named Gwen K. Bame to the position of vice president of corporate development. She joins the company from Covidien plc, a medical device company based in Mansfield, Mass.

“This is a new position created to strengthen our executive team with a clear focus on executing strategic programs and partnerships designed to meet our ambitious global growth objectives,” said Alan Milinazzo, president and CEO of InspireMD. “Gwen has the right blend of industry and management experience and we are delighted to welcome her to InspireMD.”

Bame’s responsibilities will include identifying and negotiating in and out licensing agreements, analyzing strategic partnerships and structuring of joint ventures on a worldwide basis.

Bame has more than 20 years of management experience in the medical device industry. In 1989 she began what would be a 12-year tenure with Boston Scientific Corp., serving in several leadership positions in the interventional cardiology space, culminating in a strategic corporate account role. From 2001 until 2009, she served as area vice president sales and vice president of corporate accounts at Aspect Medical Systems Inc. before accepting an offer to serve as zone vice president at Covidien after the firm acquired Aspect. Her experience includes contract negotiation, strategic partnership management, partner collaboration and a broad base of industry relationships. Bame is also an entrepreneur, and earned her bachelor of arts in business administration from Washington State University in Pullman, Wash.

InspireMD is headquartered in Tel Aviv, Israel. The company makes the proprietary stent system technology Mguard.
