Hill-Rom Makes International Buy

Company plans more aggressive expansion of product lines overseas.

Hill-Rom Holdings, Inc. acquired Liko France SAS, Item SA and Liko Care AG, the distribution companies for Hill-Rom’s Liko patient mobility products in France and Switzerland for $20 million.  Hill-Rom expanded its patient mobility product offering with the 2008 acquisition of Liko A.B., maker of patient lift systems.

Last year, Batesville, Ind.-based Hill-Rom reorganized its regional operations to more directly serve its patients’ and customers’ needs.

“We are focused on global expansion and are firmly committed to delivering outstanding patient mobility solutions,” said Alejandro Infante, corporate senior vice president and president of the International division of Hill-Rom. “This acquisition furthers those goals, while growing our key channel presence in Europe.”

Hill-Rom executives predict the acquisition to add approximately $15 million of annual revenue. Execs also noted that the purcahse is another step in the firm’s strategy for international expansion, especially in key European markets.

Hill-Rom is a manufacturer and provider of medical technologies and related services for the healthcare industry, including patient support systems, safe mobility and handling solutions, non-invasive therapeutic products for a variety of acute and chronic medical conditions, medical equipment rentals, and information technology solutions.
