GE Healthcare, Elekta Partner on Radiation Oncology

GE Healthcare and Elekta began a commercial collaboration for radiation oncology, for which two companies will offer hospitals an imaging and treatment technologies for cancer patients needing radiation therapy.
 
Cancer patients needing radiation therapy need high quality imaging and delivery equipment and software so tumors are precisely targeted and healthy tissue spared. Precision imaging helps determine the tumor’s size, shape, and physical characteristics and appropriate radiation dosing needs advanced positioning, motion management, and techniques.
 
GE Healthcare’s imaging combined with Elekta’s radiation therapy can create quite a compelling option for hospitals and patients.
 
“Access to radiation therapy is a significant challenge in several parts of the globe. The agreement isn’t exclusive so both firms can cooperate with other partners.
