Gates Vascular Institute of Kaleida Health Acquires Synaptive Medical’s Brightmatter Technology

The Gates Vascular Institute of Kaleida Health, in partnership with the University at Buffalo Neurosurgery Institute, has acquired Synaptive Medical’s BrightMatter Technology. This system fuses state of the art imaging, information and visualization of critical structures in the brain to support clinical decisions.
 
Stroke is one of the leading causes of disability and costs the U.S. healthcare system an estimated $34 billion per year. Intervention can hinge on having the right information at the right time. The Gates Vascular Institute of Kaleida Health and its multi-disciplinary team of stroke care specialists is renowned for their diagnosis and treatment with innovative technologies and research.
 
Dr. Elad Levy and Dr. Adnan Siddiqui played a key role in bringing Synaptive Medical’s BrightMatter technology to Buffalo, N.Y. Their commitment to defining neurosurgical innovation and techniques that lead to demonstrated quality outcomes and increased cost effective solutions has been a part of the healthcare system in Buffalo for more than 100 years. In addition to their innovative insight, this area was also integral to defining neurosurgery as a distinct medical specialty. The Gates Vascular Institute of Kaleida Health was recently recognized by Blue Cross Blue Shield as a center of excellence for providing optimal care at an average of 20 percent lower costs than the rest of the country.

Kaleida Health treats more stroke patients than any other hospital in the state of New York, according to the institution.
 
Siddiqui is the director of neurosurgical stroke service for Kaleida Health and the medical director for the Jacobs Institute. “This technology will allow us to continue to advance minimally invasive approaches to brain and spine to preserve normal tissues and further improve patient outcomes,” said Siddiqui. Trained in all general neurosurgical procedures, including brain tumor, spine and peripheral nerve surgery, his clinical focus has been in vascular diseases.
