Four CMOs Join to Create Implantable Medical Device Group

Contract manufacturing organizations Chameleon Design Solutions, Esterline Souriau PA&E, Litron Inc. and Valtronic have joined forces to create an Implantable Medical Device Group. The group’s aim is to reduce risk and simplify management by providing a seamless transition through each step of the implantable medical device development and manufacturing process. The companies have been working together for years on various implantable projects and offer prospective customers a more defined manufacturing process.

The companies offer expertise in design and product development; hermetic feedthrus, connectors and packaging; supply chain management and assembly and hermetic sealing; and micro-electronic assembly respectively.

The group’s specific stated goals are to help implantable device companies mitigate risk, streamline the development of their projects, simplify production by taking the complexity out of managing the supply chain and reduce time-to-market by working efficiently together from the very beginning.

“In the last few years, as we’ve become more heavily involved in the supply chain management portion of implantable device builds, it has been increasingly more important to work with top-notch vendors,” said Mark Plasse, president of Litron, “The feedback we have received thus far has only reinforced the need for this group.”

Each company has assigned representatives to the group who meet and speak regularly about the needs of the market and the best ways to work together to serve it.
