Flambeau Names VP of Sales and Marketing

The plastics manufacturer attracted new hire from competitor.

Plastics manufacturer Flambeau Inc., based in Baraboo, Wisc., has appointed Tom Star to the position of vice president of sales and marketing. He joins the company from Pacific Plastics and Engineering.

In this capacity Star will plan for and execute profitable business growth in contract medical manufacturing applications. He will be located at Flambeau’s Phoenix, Arizona facility—headquarters for their Medical Markets Group—and will report directly to Jason Sauey, president of Flambeau, Inc. Star will also be concentrating on strategic planning, key account management, sales management, product and process qualification and development and product margin and inventory management.

Star’s most recent position before joining Flambeau was as director of sales for Pacific Plastics and Engineering based in Santa Cruz, Calif. While at Pacific Plastics, Tom led the effort that significantly increased their business in contract medical applications with prominent and key medical device manufacturers. He also simultaneously served as president of plastics and metals manufacturing services company Panacea Solutions from January to June of this year. Star has also had sales experience at Trend Technologies LLC, a Chino, Calif.-based mechanical solutions provider, and Mass Precision Inc. of San Jose, Calif., where he began his career in 2000. He earned a bachelor’s degree in exercise physiology from Arizona State University in Tempe, Ariz.

Flambeau is a member of the Nordic Group of Companies. Flambeau, its divisions, and other Nordic companies provide customer assistance in design and specifications of injection and blow-molded thermoplastic components and products, building of tools and fixtures, and contract manufacturing of complete assemblies.
