First U.S. Ischemic Stroke Patients Treated With Rapid Medical’s Clot Retriever

The first patients in the United States have been treated with Rapid Medical’s U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-cleared TIGERTRIEVER revascularization device by Dr. Rishi Gutpa, director of Neurocritcal Care at Wellstar Health System in Georgia. TIGERTRIEVER is the first adjustable stent retriever, enabling neuro interventionalists to better remove blood clots and restore blood flow to the brain following an ischemic event—a condition that devastates 800,000 Americans annually.

TIGERTRIEVER provides physicians with greater intraoperative control. Physicians adjust the device according to procedural intelligence, individualizing the approach for each patient. The recently published TIGER Trial, completed for FDA clearance, demonstrated the benefits of this technique.
 
The trial documented TIGERTRIEVER’s superiority over conventional stent retrievers, achieving a statistically significant improvement in the ability to restore blood flow to the brain and excellent comparable safety metrics. Even in the smaller, more difficult to treat brain vessels, TIGERTRIEVER 17 achieved 92 percent revascularization success.
