The FDA has recalled a medical device made by a Colorado company that some say cures cancer.

The “Vibe” has not been demonstrated to be safe and effective at curing or treating diseases, the agency said.

The device was the subject of a CBS4 television investigation during the summer.

The recall notice says Greeley, CO-based Vibe Technologies has agreed to stop marketing the device, and the firm began a voluntary recall of 840 of its devices earlier this year.

Salons can still continue to use the Vibe, but can’t make any medical claims, according to the FDA.

The FDA wants Vibe to update its notices to say the device is not intended for the treatment of any medical conditions.

Gene Koonce created the Vibe and had promoted it as a medical cure. He worked out of a the back of a Greeley electronics repair shop.

“We’ve had five people come in the door with terminal brain cancer, and five people call me back and tell me they don’t have the brain cancer anymore,” Koonce said. He also said there were no deaths due to the Vibe.
