Exo has launched SweepAI, a U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-cleared tool for intelligent cardiac and lung scanning for the Exo Iris ultrasound.

The advanced artificial intelligence (AI) provides instant feedback as a user sweeps through an organ. It automatically identifies optimal imaging and scan session data can be used for diagnostic insights. SweepAI also doesn’t rely on the internet or the cloud.

Exo has received FDA clearance for four AI indications this year. With SweepAI’s launch, Exo Iris now has automated, AI-based indicators for congestive heart failure, detection of acute decompensated heart failure, stroke volume and heart rate, and determination of left ventricular wall hypertrophy.

“What sets SweepAI apart is its seamless feedback in allowing you to navigate to the right views with minimal cognitive overload,” said Dornoosh Zonoobi, VP of Artificial Intelligence at Exo. “With built-in auto-capture tools that monitor your scanning session, you don’t need to start over if a patient moves. Our AI simplifies the process, ensuring accurate, dependable results every time.”

The company also introduced Exo U, an on-device education platform for ultrasound mastery. The platform provides quick, engaging lessons in an app, educating on probe placement, anatomy recognition, and more.

“With Exo U, we’re reinventing ultrasound education,” said Arun Nagdev, MD, VP of Clinical at Exo. “We’re moving beyond long lectures. Now, learning happens in real-time, with AI acting as a coach improving your scanning skills. Pick it up, watch, scan. Simple.”

New software upgrades and features for Exo Iris and the Exo Works platform were also announced. This includes auto-color, auto-Doppler, auto-eFAST, and an OB measurements package.
