“We are very pleased to welcome Charlotta Gummeson to Encare’s Board. Her strong credentials in life science and proven track record in commercialization and growth will be a valuable contribution as we work to establish ERAS® as a standard in more healthcare systems worldwide,” Encare CEO Rasmus Waller said.

Gummeson has broad leadership expertise from life science and healthtech, including senior commercial roles at global pharma companies GSK and Astellas, where she was responsible for business and market development. She also has solid experience in investment management, with a focus on funding and scaling high-potential companies. As CEO of Sahlgrenska Science Park, one of Northern Europe’s largest life science and technology parks, Gummeson was instrumental in building an internationally recognized innovation ecosystem that connects research, industry, and capital.

“Encare is tackling one of the most critical challenges in surgical care—ensuring faster recovery and better outcomes through evidence-based protocols. I look forward to bringing my experience in commercialization, healthcare, and investment to help scale Encare’s solution, creating lasting value for both patients and healthcare systems worldwide,” Gummeson stated.

Encare is a healthtech company that develops a software as a service (SaaS) solution that contributes to improving surgical outcomes. Encare’s interactive, cloud-based solution enables healthcare providers to follow international treatment guidelines before, during, and after major surgical procedures. Encare’s service contains programs, so-called protocols, based on the international guidelines ERAS (Enhanced Recovery After Surgery), built on research and global best practice. Encare was founded in 2009 by Professor Olle Ljungqvist, a founder of ERAS Society—a network of perioperative care authorities that develops the guidelines. In 2022, Professor Ljungqvist was awarded the most prestigious prize in the world of surgery by the International Society of Surgery (SS/SIC) for his work with ERAS.
