Emergo Group Expands Presence in Europe With Acquisition

Medical device regulatory consulting firm Emergo Group Inc. has acquired Sheffield, England-based Mediqol Ltd. for an undisclosed amount with the aim of expanding its client base in Europe.

Both firms assist medical device manufacturers obtain regulatory clearance to sell their products globally.

Over the past year, Emergo Group, based in Austin, Texas, has expanded its European presence by opening an office in France in addition to its existing office in The Netherlands.

“The Mediqol consulting team is well respected in the UK with strong expertise in regulatory compliance for high risk medical devices. Their service approach providing assistance throughout the entire life-cycle of a medical device, from initial conception and product feasibility right through to clinical trials, regulatory approval and post-market surveillance, is very appealing to the clients we serve,” said Emergo Group’s CEO, Rene van de Zande.

The consultancy currently has offices in the US, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, France, Netherlands, United Kingdom, Japan, China and Australia, and a presence in India, South Korea and Russia.

Colin Rylett, managing director of Mediqol Ltd., said, “Mediqol has a concentration of medical device clients in the UK who are eager to expand into international markets. Mediqol Ltd has changed its name to Emergo UK Ltd., and Rylett has taken on the position of managing director, Europe, for the company.
