A new draft guidance from Singapore’s Health Sciences Authority prevents direct-to-consumer advertisements and promotions for medical devices from including scientific data unless that data can easily be verified or validated.

In addition, advertisers cannot use testimonials by health professionals and can only use testimonials from nonprofessionals if the claims can be substantiated.

According to the new draft guidance, customer satisfaction surveys cannot be represented as clinical trials. The guidance applies to all direct-to-consumer advertising in Singapore’s media.
