Covidien has said it would buy some of CardioDigital Inc.’s technology to access that company’s respiratory and monitoring products. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The Mansfield, Mass. health care technology maker (NYSE: COV) said Porland-based CardioDigital’s technology for patient monitoring will complement one of its own products, known as the Nellcor pulse blood oxygen monitor.

“The acquisition of CardioDigital’s technology is an exciting opportunity for us to strengthen our patient monitoring business as we partner with our customers to improve outcomes,” Joe Almeida, Covidien’s president of medical devices, said in a statement. “This acquisition sets the stage for more of these types of growth opportunities in the future.”
