Conmed’s AirSeal Robotic Solution OK’ed for Intuitive da Vinci 5 Hex Cannula

Conmed Corp. revealed an expanded indication for it AirSeal robotic solution to use with Intuitive’s 8 mm hex cannulas for the da Vinci 5 platform.

Building on its existing indication for Intuitive’s da Vinci 8mm round cannulas, the expanded indication supports compatibility with Intuitive’s latest platform and gives hospitals and surgeons greater flexibility in using complementary technologies. Backed by more than 40 clinical studies, AirSeal is designed to enhance patient outcomes, improve procedural efficiency, and strengthen the company’s position in the growing robotic surgery market.

Conmed’s advanced insufflation solution is comprised of an AirSeal cannula cap, AirSeal, and a bifurcated tube set designed for use in the da Vinci robotic surgical environment. The company said the robotic solution is functionally equivalent to AirSeal access ports delivering the same stable pneumoperitoneum, continuous smoke evacuation, and low-pressure insufflation while working entirely through robotic ports.

Last month, the company announced that John E. Gallagher was appointed as its new chief financial officer. Gallagher took office last week.
