C&J Industries Making Progress with Expansion Plans

C&J Industries has completed first and second phases of its $6 million plant expansion. With the two phases complete, C&J now has three Class 8 clean rooms that house a total of 25 injection molding presses ranging in size from 20 ton, .56-ounce shot to 390 ton, 37.5-ounce shot. Twenty-four of the machines are Toshiba all-electric presses.

C&J also opened an expanded quality assurance lab that is fully equipped to accommodate both new tooling and program development as well as on-going surveillance and monitoring of existing production, company officials said.

Phase three of the building expansion will include the transfer of 17 presses from the general molding room to the soon-to-be-completed 12,000-square-foot expansion. The new expansion will be a white room that will house presses ranging in size from 55 ton, 2-ounce shot size to 720 ton, 102-ounce shot.

Phases four and five of the building expansion and renovation will include converting the current contract manufacturing room into a white assembly room. The final phase of the project will include a Class 8 medical device assembly room. Updates on these additional phases of the project will be announced in the next two to three months.

With the additional capability being brought online, C&J has increased its medical production capability by more than 50 percent.
