Cerebain and Sonos Join to Create Alzheimer’s Device

Cerebain seeks to find a way to develop and deliver regenerative omentum to Alzheimer's patients.

Cerebain Biotech Corp. and Sonos Models Inc. have inked a deal to collaborate on a medical device, ostensibly for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease, which is the sector in which Cerebain focuses.

Cerebain is a biotech company that thus far has focused on drug development for the disease. Headquartered in Irvine, California, the company was founded by Surinder Saini, M.D., in 1992. The company’s stated long-term goal is to develop an injectable version of omentum, which is a naturally occurring tissue in the body, and has been shown via clinical study to possess regenerative qualities. Saini’s medical specialization is in gastroenterology, and omentum is a tissue found in the abdominal space, which explains his avenue into Alzheimer’s research.

“We are excited about this partnership with Sonos to assess the company’s options for a medical device,” said Gerald DeCiccio president of Cerebain. “This agreement with Sonos is another step in the development process of Cerebain’s patent to discover products for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease.”

Sonos is a Huntington Beach, Calif.-based product development company and has provided industrial design services for 30 years.
