Cardiovascular Systems Elevates Two to VP Posts


Cardiovascular Systems Inc. has promoted Brian Doughty to vice president of commercial operations from vice president of marketing, and Scott Kraus, previously a senior sales director, to vice president of sales.

Doughty and Kraus will assume responsibilities previously performed by John Borrell, who has left the St. Paul, Minn.-based firm to pursue other opportunities.

Doughty came to Cardiovascular Systems in November 2006 as director of marketing and was named vice president of marketing in August 2007.

Previously, he served as director of marketing at Bothell, Wash.-based EKOS Corporation, manufacturer of an endovascular treatment system for vascular clots. Before that, he worked in practice development at endovascular device company FoxHollow Technologies Inc., headquartered in Redwood City, Calif. In addition, he held various sales and management positions at Fridley, Minn.-based Medtronic and New Bruns-wick, N.J.-based Johnson & Johnson.

Kraus has been with Cardiovascular Systems since September 2006, most recently as a senior sales director. Previously, he held sales management positions with Natik, Mass.-based Boston Scientific, Guidant (which merged with Boston Scientific) and Murray Hill, N.J.-based C.R. Bard.

They have the skills, experience and drive to implement marketing and sales strategies to accelerate adoption of our Diamondback 360° Orbital Atherectomy System for peripheral arterial disease, as well as lead a growing national sales organization of over 100 professionals.”

The Diamondback 360° Orbital Atherectomy System is a minimally invasive catheter system for treating peripheral arterial disease in leg arteries.

GS1 US Inc. Board Elects CEO

The Board of Governors for GS1 US Inc. has elected Robert W. Carpenter as its CEO.

Carpenter comes to Lawrenceville, N.J.-based GS1 US from ARAMARK International, a global provider of food services, facilities management, and uniforms and

career clothing to healthcare institutions, universities, school districts, stadiums and other businesses. He served as senior vice president of business and strategic development for the firm, leading acquisitions and strategic development in areas such as healthcare, business and refreshments.

Prior to that, Carpenter was president of Philadelphia, Pa.-based ARAMARK Healthcare, a division that provides medical technology to hospitals in the United States. He held senior leadership positions with ARAMARK International and ARAMARK Health-care for more than five years.

Carpenter also worked for 11 years at New Brunswick, N.J.-based Johnson & Johnson and its subsidiary McNeil Consumer & Specialty Pharmaceuticals, based in Fort Washington, Pa.

ATEK Medical Hires Pair

ATEK Medical, a division of ATEK Companies, has hired Steven Naldi as director of Demand Planning and Materials Management, and Steve Cardin as vice president of Operations and Supply Chain.

Naldi will be responsible for providing global standards for demand planning, freight and inventory control for the manufacture of disposable, implantable and electro-mechanical medical devices at ATEK’s facility in Heredia, Costa Rica, and its plant in Grand Rapids, Mich., where the firm

is headquartered.

He has held various positions in management, manufacturing and planning at Natick, Mass.-based Boston Scientific for the past 11 years, including a stint as operations manager at the company’s Spencer, Ind., plant.

Cardin will manage operations at ATEK’s facilities in both Grand Rapids and Heredia.

He has more than 17 years of experience in healthcare management, manufacturing and sales. For the past nine years, he has worked for Deerfield, Ill.-based Baxter Health Corp. as plant manager at its California and Arkansas locations.

C.R. Bard Promotes Beasley to Group Vice President

C. R. Bard Inc. has promoted Jim C. Beasley to group vice president with responsibility for the Bard Access Systems and Bard Peripheral Vascular divisions.

Beasley joined Murray Hill, N.J.-based C.R. Bard in 1989 and advanced through the sales and marketing organizations before being promoted to president of Bard Access Systems in 2003 and president of Bard Peripheral Vascular in 2007. In addition to his new responsibilities as group vice president, Beasley will continue to serve as president of Bard Peripheral Vascular.

C.R. Bard manufactures medical devices for the vascular, urology and oncology markets. The firm also has a line of surgical specialty products and services.
