Cue Health and Cardinal Health yesterday began expanding distribution of Cue’s professional use and over-the-counter (OTC) COVID-19 tests. Cardinal Health was chosen because the company serves 90 percent of U.S. hospitals and over 60,000 pharmacies, as well as expertise in commercializing diagnostic technologies. The partnership will help boost reach of Cue’s nucleic acid amplification test (NAAT) into various healthcare settings. “Customers across the country trust Cardinal Health to deliver high-quality laboratory products, and Cue shares a goal with them of placing diagnostic information at the center of care,” said Cue co-founder and CEO Ayub Khattak told the press. “We look forward to making Cue’s highly accurate, fast, and easy-to-use testing and access to real-time health information more widely available through our collaboration with Cardinal Health.” A Mayo Clinic study demonstrated Cue’s COVID-19 test had 97.8 percent overall concordance with central lab PCR testing. According to the company, Cue’s OTC/home test was the first molecular diagnostic test of any kind for home or non-clinical use without a prescription that earned U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) emergency use authorization (EUA). Adults and children two years and older can use the test with or without symptoms. The products will be available in packs of ten. The Cue Health Monitoring System sends test results to a connected mobile smart device in 20 minutes through the Cue Health App. “Cue adds an important dimension to our suite of COVID-19 diagnostic solutions, further enhancing Cardinal Health’s comprehensive offering to meet our customers’ evolving testing needs,” said Chris Kerski, senior VP and GM, Cardinal Health Laboratory Products. “Cue’s unique technology and platform combines molecular testing with speed and convenience, meeting the demands of health providers, employers, travelers, and others.”
