Cardiac Science, a maker of cardiac resuscitation and diagnostic equipment, has said a weakening sales outlook is forcing it to slash about 66 employees from its payroll this quarter.

The Bothell, Wash.-based company said its business was “strong” in the fourth quarter, and that its expected 2008 revenues of $206 million are 13 percent higher than the previous year.

But the company is being cautious because it sees “potential for slower demand.”

The firm has about 550 employees worldwide, and the marketing and product development operations will be part of the reorganization, the company said.

The restructuring will cost the company between $1 million and $1.2 million before taxes.
