Bovie Medical Names New Chief Commercialization Officer

Bovie Medical Corporation has appointed Jack McCarthy, 47, as chief commercialization officer.

McCarthy has 23 years of sales and marketing experience, of which the last 16 years has been spent in the healthcare industry. Most recently, he served as vice president of Sales and Marketing for U.S. Healthcare at Z-Medica. Prior to that, McCarthy spent 15 years with Covidien plc in positions of increasing responsibility, where he was charged with achieving sales and business development goals. His most recent position at Covidien was area sales vice president for the Endo Mechanical Intelligent Device franchise, where he managed a team of 50 sales professionals.

McCarthy has a bachelor of arts degree and an M.B.A. in marketing from Loyola College in Baltimore, Md.

Bovie Medical Corporation developed J-Plasma, a patented new plasma-based surgical product utilizing a gas ionization process that produces a stable, focused beam of ionized gas. The beam provides surgeons with greater precision, minimal invasiveness and an absence of conductive currents through the patient during surgery. Bovie Medical Corporation also manufactures various electrosurgical products and technologies, marketed through both private labels and the company’s own brands (Bovie, Aaron, IDS and ICON).
