Bovie Medical Adds Two to its Direct Sales Force

Bovie Medical Corporation, developer of J-Plasma, a patented new surgical product, has added two experienced sales executives to its direct sales force.

Todd Hornsby joins the company as vice president of Sales. Hornsby began his career in the field with Johnson & Johnson Ethicon Endo-Surgery and Medex before spending the last 10 years at Cryolife, where he held several sales positions before being named senior director of U.S. Sales in 2007. He brings a solid mix of sales success in the field and leadership experience to the J-Plasma roll-out, company bigwigs said.

Craig Roberson has joined Bovie Medical as Eastern Regional sales manager. He has 22 years of medical device sales experience, most recently serving as district sales manager for a line of surgical products developed by the Bard Medical Division of C.R. Bard, where he worked for five years. Prior to that Robertson held several sales positions during his 15-year career at U.S. Surgical (now Covidien), serving as national sales director for the Women’s Healthcare Division.

Hornsby and Roberson were awarded non-qualified stock options to purchase an aggregate of 30,000 and 20,000 shares of Bovie common stock, respectively, exercisable at the closing price on the effective date of each of their employment agreements.

Based in Clearwater, Fla., Bovie Medical manufactures and supplies medical devices. Its J-Plasma surgical product uses a gas ionization process that produces a stable, focused beam of ionized gas that provides surgeons with greater precision, minimal invasiveness and an absence of conductive currents through the patient during surgery.
