AVNA Opens New Mfg Plant in Costa Rica’s Evolution Free Zone

AVNA, a manufacturer of medical device components and subassemblies, has relocated and expanded its Costa Rice operations to the new Evolution Free Zone, in Grecia Costa Rica.

The investment totaled $5.5 million and represented a 116% increase of production capacity. The opening positions the company as the anchor tenant of the business part and reinforced its commitment to growth in Costa Rica.

The new facility spans 5,900 square meters, 5,200 square meters of which are dedicated to production and 700 square meters to administrative operations. The expansion lets AVNA incorporate laser processing, plastic injection molding and overmolding, precision grinding technology for blades and sharps, CNC machining, and advanced automation and assembly.

14 of the top 30 multinational companies in the life sciences sector operate in Costa Rica.

AVNA currently employs 150 people at its Costa Rica facility and expects to create about 200 new jobs in engineering, manufacturing, automation, and quality control over the next three years.
