Avitar Reports Mixed Fiscal, Q4 Results

Canton, MA-based Avitar’s revenues dropped in fiscal 2004 despite higher fourth-quarter revenues that resulted from the roll out of the company’s Oralscreen Drugometer test.

Avitar, a maker of products in the oral fluid diagnostic, disease and clinical testing markets, reported that fiscal 2004 revenues were $4 million compared with $4.6 million. Fourth-quarter fiscal revenues were $1.2 million compared with $1.1 million in 2003. The company had a net loss of $3 million compared with a loss of $6.5 million in the year before.

The Oralscreen Drugometer is a non-invasive, rapid onsite oral fluid test for drug abuse.
