Angiotech, Johnson & Johnson Unit Settle Litigation

Angiotech Pharmaceuticals Inc. (ANPI) has settled all outstanding patent litigation with Johnson & Johnson’s (JNJ) Conor Medsystems subsidiary related to Conor’s CoStar paclitaxel stent. As reported, Conor attempted to revoke an Angiotech patent having to do with ” the compositions comprising a polymer and a paclitaxel,” as well as “paclitaxel- eluting stents.” Angiotech said that, at the time of the settlement, there was ongoing litigation in three jurisdictions: the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Australia. Specific settlement details weren’t disclosed. Angiotech is a Vancouver pharmaceutical and medical-device company. SOURCE: Dow Jones
