Align Technology Inc. has released upgraded Invisalign Smile Architect software with a Multiple Treatment Plans feature, which enables doctors to visually compare and modify orthodontic only and ortho restorative treatment plans side-by-side. The Multiple Treatment Plans are integrated into ClinCheck treatment planning software for doctors to visually compare, review, and choose the best treatment option for each patient.

During an office visit, a doctor can use the iTero scanner to visually demonstrate ortho only and ortho restorative treatment simulations or submit patient’s records to then use with the features of Invisalign Smile Architect to develop a personalized ClinCheck treatment plan for the patient, whether ortho only or ortho-restorative.

Ortho restorative treatment represents a growing opportunity for dental practitioners to combine the Invisalign System’s benefits with restorative treatment to give patients various treatment options to transform their unique smile with a tooth mass analysis tool depicting minimal tooth reduction using the Invisalign Smile Architect ortho restorative software.

“Invisalign Smile Architect with Multiple Treatment Plans was developed to help doctors facilitate patient education with treatment planning options for patient care to support more informed treatment decisions for their patients and ultimately enhance practice growth,” Align Technology Chief Product and Digital Officer Sreelakshmi Kolli said. “The advanced visual comparison tools within Invisalign Smile Architect software with Multiple Treatment Plans can help general dentists communicate treatment options that may combine orthodontic and restorative procedures to support doctors, patients, and their treatment goals.”

The new software integrates with the Align Digital Platform, Align’s combination of software, systems, and services designed to provide a seamless experience and workflow that integrates and connects all users (doctors, labs, patients, and consumers). It offers a single ecosystem for combined visual orthodontic and restorative treatment planning including facial lines, tooth mass analysis, and in-face visualizations while introducing new features such as Flex Rx, Invisalign Personalized Plan (IPP), ClinCheck Smile Video, and ClinCheck Live Update.

“I’ve waited my entire career for a product like Invisalign Smile Architect. It makes transforming traditional esthetic restorative cases into minimally invasive ortho restorative plans easy, by visualizing the best esthetic outcome through optimal tooth positioning,” stated Dr. Michael DiTolla, a cosmetic dentist in Lodi, Calif., who participated in the limited market release. “The new Multiple Treatment Plans feature has been invaluable in helping patients understand the difference between ortho only and ortho restorative outcomes, leading to better case acceptance and compliance throughout treatment. I now won’t start any anterior restorative case without first considering if we can achieve a more conservative approach by moving the teeth. Invisalign Smile Architect with Multiple Treatment Plans is a major leap forward in restorative dentistry.”

“This next release of the Invisalign Smile Architect software has enhanced my ability to engage patients by allowing them to visualize potential treatment outcomes, including cosmetics, elevating the patient experience and higher Invisalign case acceptance at my practice,” added Dr. Karla Soto, a general practitioner dentist and an Align Faculty member with a practice in Boca Raton, Fla.
