3DISC Imaging Inks Deal for Software Company

3DISC Imaging, a manufacturer of medical imaging products, has acquired CoreWare, a provider of digital radiography software.

CoreWare, founded in 2002, offers a range of image processing software solutions for computed radiography, digital radiography, and Picture Archiving Communication Systems to customers throughout Korea, as well as in other Asian countries and the United States. CoreWare’s software powers 3DISC’s suite of X-ray imaging solutions for human and animal use.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

According to Sigrid Smitt-Jeppesen, CEO of 3DISC Americas, based in Dulles, Va., CoreWare is a perfect fit for the company.

“3DISC is a technology company with significant expertise in building quality medical imaging devices,” Smitt-Jeppesen said. “The acquisition of CoreWare, with its exceptional technical and scientific capabilities in imaging software, complements and strengthens our ability to develop smart, high-quality imaging products that provide facilities with flexibility that lets them grow.”

Joshua Kim, chief executive of CoreWare said he’s been “impressed” with 3DISC’s ability to manufacture medical imaging devices.

3DISC’s family of CR readers is built on technology that provides high-quality images for viewing, enhancement, duplication, archiving, and distribution. Its next-generation FireCR+ Medical product line includes a range of compact, portable CR readers ideal for use in hospitals, clinics, specialty practices, and satellite facilities, while separate product lines serve the dental and veterinary markets.

3DISC’s upgradeable CR readers allow customers to select a system that meets current needs and budgets, and scale up as imaging volume increases.
