Dopl Scores $6.3M Seed Funding for Telerobotic Ultrasound Tech

Dopl Technologies, a company developing a robotic ultrasound platform, has closed a $6.3 million seed round led by SpringTide Ventures. This round of funding grew the company’s total funding over $8 million.

The Bothell, Washington-based company plans to pursue U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clearance for its ecosystem of products. This includes the Traverse remote robotic ultrasound, Dopl Connect secure connectivity and data platform, and SonoFlex clinical workforce and workflow management solution.

The platform supports remote, on-demand diagnostic ultrasound exams across multiple sites, improving access in underserved rural communities.

Dopl’s platform is hardware-agnostic, combining off-the-shelf robots, ultrasound systems, haptic controllers, and cameras to enable rapid deployment. The company was founded by a former NVIDIA medical AI engineer alongside practicing cardiologists and radiologists, the broader team boasts experience from Butterfly Network, Philips, Microsoft, and Amazon.

The company launched CareBridge to provide temporary ultrasound coverage while pursuing FDA clearance for its telerobotic platform. The service provides hospitals with in-person sonographer support and has reduced patient wait times by up to 90%, according to the company. Participating health systems are expected to transition to Dopl’s telerobotic imaging platform following FDA clearance.
