Philips has launched its new Alturion ultrasound system, which boasts an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered workflow that the company said is built for high-volume settings.

Alturion is the newest ultrasound to feature the Elevate Plus AI tool to support measurements for abdominal ultrasound. Philips said the AI-enabled capabilities contained within assist with streamlining image acquisition, automating measurements, and supporting reproducible outcomes.

A 24-inch monitor and small footprint make the system easier to move from department to bedside, the company said. The AI-powered workflows can also help reduce manual adjustments and exam time, with a familiar user interface for reasons of simple and consistent operation.

Alturion shares a common user interface and interchangeable transducers compatible with Philips’ Epiq Elite and Affiniti systems. The company hopes these features can help sonographers and clinicians simplify training, accelerate onboarding, and support consistent interdepartmental workflows.

Like the rest of the company’s general imaging ultrasound portfolio, Alturion is upgradeable and compatible with Collaboration Live, a tele-ultrasound tool for multiple users to connect on remote support, training, and consultation.

“At Philips, our goal is to develop technology that adapts to the realities of modern healthcare and helps care teams work more effectively in increasingly demanding clinical environments,” said Jie Xue, Chief Business Leader, Precision Diagnosis at Philips. “Alturion was designed with that goal in mind, helping healthcare providers deliver high-quality care with greater efficiency and confidence.”
