Senseonics and Welldoc, a leader in artificial intelligence (AI)-powered health solutions, began a strategic partnership to develop a new custom mobile application for the Eversense 365 implantable continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) system.

The next-gen app will maintain all existing features, with new features to boost user experience and facilitate better integration with popular digital health tools. The new Eversense 365 app will integrate with Apple Health and Google Health Connect so users can compile their most valuable health and fitness data into one place.

The app will also continue to support the combination of Eversense 365 with the twiist automated insulin delivery (AID) system, which launched in the U.S. earlier this year.

The app will also boast a revamped interface with improved visual components and workflows for all features and functions of the current app. The duo’s project will focus on enhancing the user interface and experience of sensor and transmitter integration, including pairing and activation, communication status, synchronization, data displays and alerts.

It’s expected to launch in the U.S. during the second half of this year and become available in European markets early next year. After launching the app, Senseonics and Welldoc plan to collaborate on a cadence of future app releases—the duo believes the enhancements could include CGM-informed bolus calculation, medication management, metabolic tracking and logbook, and educational resources.
