Coloplast Names New Leader

Former J&J executive succeeds interim CEO Lars Rasmussen.

Coloplast’s Board of Directors has appointed Gavin Wood as president and CEO of the Coloplast Group to succeed interim CEO Lars Rasmussen, who has been in charge since May 5, 2025.

Wood has spent two decades in different leadership roles at Johnson & Johnson, most recently as company Group Chairman of Johnson & Johnson MedTech EMEA, a multi-billion-dollar business with more than 7,000 employees working across three business units: Surgery, Orthopedics, and Cardiovascular & Specialty Solutions.

Gavin is a seasoned medtech executive with an impressive track record when it comes to creating value and driving growth,” Interim Board Chair Jette Nygaard-Andersen said. “Gavin has a strong commercial profile and valuable experience from multiple companies in the medtech space. He has led global commercial organizations, and he has an in-depth understanding of both the European and U.S. healthcare markets. The board is confident that Gavin is the right candidate to lead the company into its next chapter of growth and value creation by delivering on the Impact4 strategy together with the rest of the executive leadership team.”

Earlier in his career, Wood led the Ethicon Wound Closure & Healing team as worldwide president, and before that, he was executive vice president, Commercial, at Mölnlycke. He currently serves as vice chair of MedTech Europe.

Wood earned a bachelor of arts degree in law from Carleton University, Canada, and an MBA from Queen’s University, Canada. He is Canadian and will be relocating to Denmark.
