Harvard Apparatus Unveils Glucose Clamp Infusion System

Holliston, Mass.-based Harvard Apparatus has released its Pump 11 Elite glucose clamp infusion system for academic euglycemic or hyperglycemic glucose clamp studies. The system is touted as a time-saving syringe pump enhancement that offers quick and simple set-up using an innovative touch screen display. The built-in software capabilities reportedly reduce the potential for error by providing accurate fluid delivery. The three major features offered by the glucose clamp program to simplify glucose clamp studies are: the ability to enter in a desired concentration, animal weight, and dose rate in the syringe pump and then use that information to properly set the infusion rate automatically; the ability to change the dose rate during infusion, which allows the execution of complex infusion procedures without the need to start and stop the process; and the ability to view the previous dose rate setting while the pump is running, which allows for easy monitoring.
