Nyxoah SA is continuing its Middle East market expansion, establishing new partnerships in Dubai, Kuwait, and Abu Dhabi. These collaborations follow the first Genio implant in the region earlier this year.

The company is teaming up with institutions in the three countries to increase access to Genio and improve outcomes for patients living with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) who cannot tolerate continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy.

“The Middle East represents an important and growing market for Nyxoah, and we are delighted to see this momentum since our initial launch in the region earlier this year,” Nyxoah CEO Olivier Taelman said. “Expanding from Dubai into Kuwait and Abu Dhabi allows us to bring the patient-centric Genio solution to more individuals suffering from obstructive sleep apnea. We are grateful to collaborate with healthcare institutions and experts in the region, who share our mission to transform the treatment of OSA and make sleep simple for patients worldwide.”

With its growing network of centers across the Middle East, Nyxoah continues to expand patient access to Genio, the only leadless, externally powered bilateral hypoglossal nerve stimulation system for OSA treatment.

Genio is a U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved, mask-free treatment option for moderate to severe OSA. Genio therapy works by gently stimulating hypoglossal nerves to contract muscles on both sides of the tongue, keeping the airway open throughout the night. The Genio System features a battery-free stimulator that’s externally powered by a sleep wearable, with customizable settings available through a smartphone app. Genio therapy has been clinically proven to significantly reduce sleep-related breathing events, with high rates of daily use and patient satisfaction.

The Genio System’s sleep wearable utilizes a disposable adhesive patch connected to an external battery—also called an activation chip—worn under the chin. This wearable powers the implanted stimulator, which together delivers gentle muscle stimulation on both sides of the tongue during sleep. The chip is charged daily through a small portable charger.

Nyxoah is a medical technology company developing and commercializing solutions to treat OSA. Nyxoah’s lead product is the Genio system, a patient-centered, leadless and battery-free hypoglossal neurostimulation therapy for OSA. Following the successful completion of the BLAST OSA study, the Genio system received its European CE Mark in 2019. Nyxoah completed two successful IPOs: on Euronext Brussels in September 2020 and NASDAQ in July 2021. Following the positive outcomes of the BETTER SLEEP study, Nyxoah received CE mark approval to expand its therapeutic indications to Complete Concentric Collapse (CCC) patients, currently contraindicated in competitors’ therapy. Additionally, the company announced positive outcomes from the DREAM IDE pivotal study and FDA Premarket approval.
