GE HealthCare and UC San Diego Health announced a 14-year strategic enterprise collaboration (Care Alliance) focused on bringing advanced digital innovation and medical technologies to the San Diego health system. The partnership will target integration of innovative imaging and technology throughout the UC San Diego Health system.

The Care Alliance aims to leverage imaging solutions and novel therapies like theranostics to advance cancer care for early detection, effective treatment, and enhanced monitoring. Artificial intelligence (AI) and digital solutions will drive innovation, efficiency, and excellence for care delivery, the duo said.

GE HealthCare’s X-ray, CT, PET/CT, PET/MR, SPECT/CT, MRI, image guided systems, and nuclear medicine with AI and digital tools will be leveraged in the effort. Imaging devices being implemented include the company’s StarGuide SPECT/CT, Smart Subscription for CT, and SIGNA Continuum program for MR

The imaging technology and theranostics—which merges diagnostics and therapeutics—hope to offer more precise treatment for cancer.

The company said an optimized tech program with a customized model and technical services support for education to give clinicians more technological expertise. Service experts and field engineers provide an augmented service delivery model to support preventative maintenance for connected equipment, helping to reduce downtime, improve efficiency, and cut issue resolution speed.

“This Care Alliance was designed to standardize future-focused technology with the goal of measurable improvements in patient outcomes,” said Catherine Estrampes, president and CEO, U.S. and Canada at GE HealthCare. “This value-based delivery framework is driven by system-wide efficiency that can help increase access to innovative technology for clinicians and individualized care for patients.”

Earlier this week, the company announced the latest advancement in its Venue family of point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) systems. The Venue family now boasts new AI-enabled tools and digital tools to boost confidence and efficiency.
