Magnolia Medical Technologies, inventor of the Steripath Initial Specimen Diversion Device platform, has appointed Jason Richey as its new president and chief executive officer (CEO) and member of its board of directors, effective July 14.

Richey boasts over two decades of experience leading medical technology companies. He was president and CEO of Cytrellis Biosystems from 2022 to 2024, and president and CEO of Cutera from 2018 to 2021.

Before that, Richey served in several leadership roles at LivaNova spanning from 2007 to 2018.

“We are excited to welcome Jason to Magnolia Medical,” said Greg Bullington, Co-Founder of Magnolia Medical. “His extensive experience leading high-growth MedTech organizations makes him the ideal leader to guide Magnolia Medical through this next critical phase of growth.”

Richey joined the company as its innovations continue to accelerate adoption of a new standard of care for its Steripath test. Almost 10 million blood cultures done in U.S. hospitals to spot bloodstream infections have benefited from the Steripath platform, the company said.

“Magnolia Medical is at the forefront of redefining the benchmark for sepsis diagnostic accuracy,” said Richey. “The company’s clinically proven technologies and unwavering commitment to patient-centered care are second to none. I look forward to collaborating with the talented team at Magnolia Medical to expand our impact, deliver exceptional value to our customers, and support the company’s continued growth.”
