Cereglide 92 is used to facilitate insertion and guidance of interventional devices in the neurovascular system.

Johnson & Johnson MedTech has launched its Cereglide 92 catheter system, a next-gen 0.92” catheter with the Innerglide 9 delivery aid. Cereglide 92 is used to facilitate insertion and guidance of interventional devices in the neurovascular system.
The 0.92” inner diameter catheter system lets physicians achieve large distal access. It’s designed to reduce flow in the M1 when inserting devices to revascularize patients with acute ischemic stroke. The larger lumen, according to J&J, also provides distal support for neurovascular tools treating aneurysms or other hemorrhagic complications.
By using Cereglide 92 to insert aspiration catheters during thrombectomy procedures, physicians can restore blood flow in the brain by directly withdrawing a blood clot or inserting a catheter in combination with a stent retriever.
Design elements include the co-packaged Innerglide 9 delivery aid, full catheter visibility with Brite-Line technology, and TruCourse technology. TruCourse increases distal tip flexibility to help with catheter trackability, the company said. The system tracks to the M1 and provides large distal placement for procedural control along with full catheter visibility under fluoroscopy.
Dr. Brian Jankowitz, Chief of Neurosurgery and Co-Chair of the Stroke and Neurovascular Program at the Hackensack Meridian Neuroscience Institute at JFK University Medical Center said vessel tortuosity and other anatomical challenges exist in about half of mechanical thrombectomy cases, which can increase procedure time or even prevent the ability to treat.
“As an early user of Cereglide 92 and Innerglide 9, this super large-bore catheter system helps provide quick and seamless access to the M1 with the benefit of flow control, allowing us to rapidly reperfuse the patient and extend the benefits of next generation stroke technology to more patients,” said Dr. Jankowitz.
As part of ongoing sustainability efforts, Cereglide 92 will use electronic instructions for use (e-IFUs). E-IFUs are expected to help reduce the company’s environmental footprint, lower CO2 emissions caused during shipment, and facilitate reduction in healthcare systems’ post-consumer recycling and medical waste disposal.
“Johnson & Johnson MedTech is continuing to innovate to help address the access challenges physicians face during mechanical thrombectomy procedures with the launch of Cereglide 92,” said Mark Dickinson, Worldwide President, Neurovascular, Johnson & Johnson MedTech. “The Cereglide 92 Catheter System is the latest innovation in our CEREGLIDE and ischemic stroke suite of technologies designed to assist physicians in treating their patients and maximizing procedural outcomes, to ultimately change the trajectory of stroke.”
Yesterday, Financial Times reported that J&J MedTech is putting its Cerenovus stroke business up for sale, seeking a valuation of over $1 billion.
