GE HealthCare has announced its new Pristina Via mammography system will debut at the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) 2024 annual meeting.

According to GE HealthCare, Pristina Via offers advanced new features to minimize repetitive tasks and streamline workflows. This lets mammography technologists focus on providing quality, personalized care during screening.

Pristina Via has a “zero-click” acquisition function for faster, seamless workflows. There’s no wait time between exposures, meaning that technologists can operate at their own speed. GE HealthCare said Pristina Via’s DBT image-to-image cycle is up to twice as fast as other mammography systems on the market.

Vendor-neutral prior image comparison lowers the time spent analyzing prior exams and enables final assessments more efficiently. GE HealthCare said Pristina Via uses the lowest radiation dose for all breast thicknesses among major mammography systems.

It also touts a future-focused, scalable platform will full backward compatibility, so imaging centers have access to the latest capabilities along with flexibility to support their sites’ evolving needs. GE HealthCare said it performed almost 250 interviews and observations with mammography technologists that revealed their greatest challenge is keeping up with modern medicine’s rapid pace without sacrificing accuracy or patient-centered care.

“At GE HealthCare, we are dedicated to addressing our customers’ needs by delivering solutions that enhance the experience for both patients and healthcare professionals,” said Jyoti Gupta, Ph.D., President and CEO for Women’s Health and X-ray at GE HealthCare. “Pristina Via represents a significant evolution in our patient focused Senographe Pristina platform which was designed by women for women. With the new in-room workflow, Pristina Via minimizes laborious tasks and provides technologists with the gift of time to prioritize what matters most: compassionate, patient-centered care.”

Earlier this month, GE HealthCare began a strategic collaboration with RadNet’s DeepHealth to build solutions that help increase the efficiency of imaging interpretation and reporting, allow collaboration among care teams, improve clinical image interpretation, and boost operational efficiency and productivity in breast cancer screening.

“During our intensive collaboration with our end users in the design phase, we heard time and again that the technologist’s workday can feel like a race against the clock,” said Pooja Pathak, VP and GM for Global Mammography at GE HealthCare. “Pristina Via is our answer to this challenge. The system’s advanced features were engineered to automate processes and allow our users to give patients the attentive, quality care they deserve. I am thrilled that SimonMed our longtime customer, will be implementing this new technology as part of their mammography services.”
