Siemens Healthineers and The Ohio State Wexner Medical Center have expanded their strategic relationship to form a 10-year, $105 million Value Partnership to foster breakthroughs in clinical care and their longstanding research collaboration.

The two parties will accelerate innovation in diagnostic and therapeutic imaging, AI and machine learning in radiology and radiation oncology, and access to high-quality care for underserved patients.

A team of scientists from Siemens Healthineers will join the clinical and research teams from across The Ohio State Wexner Medical Center, the Ohio State Heart and Vascular Center and Richard M. Ross Heart Hospital, and The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute (OSUCCC – James) to collaborate on translational research to advance clinical practice at a new center for imaging excellence.

The imaging center will bring together scientists, physicians, engineers, clinicians, and learners from multiple disciplines to develop practical innovations that can be rapidly translated into practice for treating various types of diseases at The Ohio State Wexner Medical Center and health systems around the world.

The new Value Partnership will also include equipment purchases and consulting services over 10 years to transform care delivery through operational improvements and workforce development programs.

“Combining the strengths of both our institutions allows us to achieve more for the benefit of our patients, locally and globally,” said John J. Warner, MD, CEO of The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and executive vice president at Ohio State. “We have a deep bench of subspecialized scientists working in cancer, heart, neuroscience, and other disciplines. Along with Siemens Healthineers, we can solve medical challenges and adapt therapies in real time for the betterment of our patients – and that is a very meaningful opportunity that we’re excited to take on together.”

“Our relationship with The Ohio State Wexner Medical Center brings out the best in both organizations,” said David Pacitti, president and head of the Americas at Siemens Healthineers. “Not only are we providing them with advanced imaging and other modalities, but through our research collaboration, we’re also co-developing technologies that can save and improve patients’ lives.”

For over 15 years, Siemens Healthineers and Varian, a Siemens Healthineers company, have been primary providers to The Ohio State Wexner Medical Center and OSUCCC – James for most of their imaging equipment, including MRI, CT, molecular imaging, X-ray, interventional radiology and radiation oncology.
