When the smell of bratwurst fills the air and the cool wind has just a bit of moisture in it, you may be traveling between the enormous halls at the Messe Dusseldorf Center in Germany. Anyone who has visited this event in the past knows the sheer volume of attendees and exhibitors, making it difficult to find a company that may be able to aid with an upcoming design or development project.

With this in mind, MPO presents its annual series of Q&A sessions with a number of supply chain companies exhibiting at the show. Perhaps Qosina will have the answers for your current development idea and help you get to the finish line faster. We spoke with Lee Pochter, executive vice president, at the company to get some additional insights on what Qosina does and how it may be able to serve you.

Sean Fenske: What technology or service are you emphasizing at Medica/CompaMed this year?

Lee Pochter: Qosina’s ecommerce website and self-service tools were designed to offer quick and easy access to pertinent information that may aid in the development workflow of engineers and device manufacturers. Our website offers valuable resources such as a robust documentation library that includes downloadable technical data sheets, REACH and RoHS compliance statements, and MSDS and other safety and regulatory documents. Complimentary samples, downloadable 3D models, and instant quotes help engineers expedite their time to market.

Fenske: What’s the most common challenge customers inquire about and how do you address it?

Pochter: A common challenge for engineers is finding the exact components they need. For nearly 45 years, Qosina has been a trusted partner to medical device engineers, providing thousands of in-stock components and innovative solutions to meet the industry’s evolving needs. Qosina’s experienced sales team is well-equipped to provide detailed information about our components and assist customers in identifying the solutions that best fit their needs.

We know engineers experiment with many different products while determining what to specify in their design. They must evaluate size, color, materials, and pricing, all of which are pivotal to the decision-making process. We offer free samples of most of our components so engineers can confirm that the fit, form, and function meet their exact specifications. Our components are perfect for building prototypes, testing different sterilization methods, and validating bonding agents.

Fenske: If you could give one piece of advice to companies seeking a manufacturing partner before they make a decision, what would it be?

Pochter: At Qosina, we help our customers source products that already exist, saving them from having to reinvent the wheel. Before companies began offering stock components, product designers had to design the various components they would use in addition to the core product. Tooling had to be created and the components manufactured, which is a costly process. We welcome sourcing requests for tool modifications, hard-to-find items, subassemblies, or tubing. Engineers can utilize Qosina as their one-stop shop for components without having the hassle of using several different sources for one project.

Fenske: What are the forces driving medical device manufacturers to seek your technology/services over doing it in-house?

Pochter: Ordering off-the-shelf products from Qosina enables manufacturers to focus their time and resources on proprietary products. With one purchase order, they can outsource the supply chain for many components to Qosina. We have relationships with many manufacturers that utilize different technologies. We handle inspection and quality control, have five ISO certifications, and offer second-sourcing opportunities for customers. Plus, we make collaboration simple and seamless.

Fenske: In what ways is your company able to aid in getting a product (project) to market faster?

Pochter: We are committed to providing our customers with tailored solutions to meet their unique needs. Our customer service team is ready to assist with any specific concerns or requirements they may have. Whether it’s prioritizing their orders or offering flexible delivery options, we’re here to support engineers every step of the way.

Our products are in stock and available for immediate delivery. As mentioned earlier, we provide free, downloadable 3D CAD models, enabling engineers to visualize and test components directly in their designs before committing. This ensures a smooth integration process and helps them stay on schedule. We encourage engineers to take advantage of our free samples—they can test before they invest. In addition, when they’re ready for a large order, we offer competitive pricing—our volume discount structure helps customers save as their needs grow, making their projects more cost-efficient. We know that every project is unique. That’s why we break down bulk orders into smaller quantities, allowing our customers to order exactly what they need without over-committing. We pride ourselves on delivering more than just components. We provide solutions that help engineers stay ahead in a fast-paced industry.

Qosina is located at Medica/CompaMed in Hall 8A, Booth/Stand M13.
